I visited Israel and the West Bank in the summer of 2015. Besides touring the Roman and Roman-era sites scattered through that corner of the world, I biked around the Sea of Galilee, clambered among the ruins of Armageddon, and marveled at the sacred palimpsests of Jerusalem.
