October 17-25, 2024

This was an eight-day historical whirlwind. Along with some of Egypt’s most famous sites – the Pyramids at Giza, the Valley of the Kings, Abu Simbel – we visited places that many travelers overlook, like the colossal unfinished obelisk at Aswan.

We spent the morning of our first full day at Giza.

Then, a sleeper train brought us down to Aswan, and to the fantastic temples at Philae.

The following day, most of the group took the ride down to Abu Simbel. This was followed by a relaxing Nile cruise on a felucca, complete with a delicious Nubian dinner.

Onward, then, to the temples and tombs of Luxor. A highlight was the famous Hypostle Hall in the Karnak temple complex.

After exploring the Valley of the Kings, we returned to Cairo. The last full day of the trip brought us to Saqqara, where we finally took a group photo…
